Bite
Me!
Before the humane trap
we had to notice Opie to locate the mouse, drive it out and catch
it bare handed (not hard to do; mice are dumb, cats get too much
credit). One morning the Husband is carrying a nervous little
critter back to the woods in cupped hands. He stoops down and
opens his hand. The mouse stares up for a moment, then bites
him on the finger and disappears. The little ingrate drew blood.
Right away the Husband thinks rabies. He ends up in the emergency
room. The doctor says there's never been a case of a rabid mouse,
'cuz whatever would infect them would also probably eat them.
He gave the Husband a tetanus shot and sent him home. Still,
for two weeks the Husband was very self-conscious of anything
symptom-like. |
